OUR STORY

CHRZ Rez91, is a community radio station, broadcasting from Wasauksing First Nation near Parry Sound, On. It was launched in July of 2002 with the help of Central Ontario Broadcasting (Rock 95) out of Barrie On.

Rez91, radiating at 91.3 megaherz FM, has a broadcast footprint covering Wasauksing First Nation Territory, the Town Of Parry Sound as well as the neighbouring townships of Seguin, McDougall, Carling and the Township of the Archipelago. The stated mission of the station was to give the Community of Wasauksing a progressive presence and voice reaching out to our neighbours and to the many visitors to this tourist destination.

Wasauksing Communications Group Inc., Rez91’s corporate entity, is a not-for-profit provincial corporation which is governed by a board of directors made up of members of Wasauksing first Nation.

The melding of a group of eager and talented people who have pooled their skills and dedication to a labour of love, made this enterprise, a recognised broadcaster of choice in our area. With a format combination of blues and classic rock while spot lighting aboriginal and local talent, it was discovered that Rez91 appealed to much of the seasonal audience who have summer homes in the area. Their emails convinced us that we needed to expand our reach onto the web, which we did in September of 2014, and the stream can be linked from our web page at Rez91.com It can also be reached from the front pages of Anishinabek News and MUSKRAT Magazine.
